Whenever I try to use Bluetooth headphones during a Zoom meeting, I can’t get any sound to play from any application on my computer including Zoom unless I leave the meeting or change to a non-Bluetooth audio device.

I’ve searched all over for solutions and nothing seems to work. Here’s what I’ve tried: -In Zoom, selected the “Headphones” as the speaker -In Zoom, selected “Same as System” as the speaker -In Zoom, checked that the volume was not low or off -Restarted zoom after changing audio settings -In Windows, checked that the volume was not low or off -In Windows, in the Device Manager, checked that the Bluetooth drivers were up to date -In Windows, in the “Sound” menu “Playback” tab, checked that the headphones are enabled -In Windows, in the “Properties” menu “Advanced” tab, unchecked “Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device” -In Windows, in the “Volume Mixer”, checked that Zoom was not low volume or off -Restarted computer The headphones in question work very well outside of Zoom.

I’ve tried this with two different pairs of Bluetooth headphones made by different companies and both of them have the same problem. They connect to my desktop through a SoundBot Bluetooth dongle. Let me know if you need any other information. Couriant James.

Joined Mar 26, Messages 43, Zoom seems to take out any other sounds while you join the Zoom meeting from what I have seen. I will need to look at the settings. Still no solution to this problem. I’ve noticed this only occurs when Zoom is set to use both the speakers and the microphone in my Bluetooth headphones.

If I change the mic to a different one like the one in my webcam , I get audio from my speakers. Of course, the microphone in my webcam is awful so I’m still looking for an answer here. Did your headphones have software to use? Is there a reason you are not using your headphones for the zoom calls? Also to confirm, are you able to hear sound when you use the Test Speakers? I’m not aware of any software for the headphones.

I just connected using Bluetooth and they worked outside of Zoom. When I try to use my headphones for Zoom meetings, I can’t hear anything, not even from other programs. I cannot hear anything when I use “Test Speaker”. This only happens while Zoom is running. These headphones work great for everything else.

I have a pair of Bluetooth headphones that I used with previous version of Zoom meetings and on Windows 10 with no problems, but I have been having a hard time getting them to function as the speaker and microphone in Zoom.

The headphones are recognized by Zoom meetings and are available in the drop-down menus in the Audio settings.

I have also tried using the “Same as system” and “Bluetooth Headphones” options for both the speaker and microphone functions and have not been able to get them to operate correctly. The headphones do work fine with multiple other apps on my tablet, so believe it is a Zoom meetings issue that is precluding my usage of the headphones. I would really like to be able to use my headphones on Zoom to have a clearer microphone sound and also remove the background noise of multiple participants in case I am in a meeting where I am not talking but others are so I do not disturb others in my shared office.

I have seen drivers available for download on the website, but I wasn’t sure if they would help my current problem. Any help regarding this matter would be awesome. Thank you. Go to Solution. I figured out what was wrong. The Hands-Free Telephony setting for the earbuds was interfering with the audio and microphone of the earbuds. View solution in original post.

Thank you very much for your response! On Amazon where I got them from, the listing says the Bluetooth is 5. These headphones have worked with Zoom meetings on Windows 10, but I have not been able to get them to work on Windows 11 with Zoom meetings on my new tablet. The tablet came with Windows 11 factory installed if that helps you at all.

Thank you! Do you see the little arrow mark on the microphone click it and you will see speaker and microphone click on the name of the headphones your using to connect them to the zoom meeting this should help.

Thank you very much for your reply! I looked at your attached picture to verify, and yes, I have tried that and received the same results unfortunately. I am not sure of what else to do except for purchase a new set of headphones since it doesn’t seem like others are having the same issue with other brands, but I’d rather not if I don’t have to since they are so pricey on a student budget.

Setting 1: While in a meeting, tap your screen to display the meeting controls below your screen. Setting 2: To be heard by other participants in a Zoom meeting, tap on the screen to show the call controls. Tap on the microphone icon if there is a red diagonal line across it. After your selection, Test the Speaker. Step 5: To make sure your audio will be delivered to participants, look for Microphone also under the Audio tab and click the Input level bar next to Test Mic to pick the right mic.

Click the Test Mic button afterward to confirm that the selected mic works. Otherwise, you may have to try another mic from the list. I’m having the same issue exactly as described. Android Zoom app refuses to send audio to any bluetooth speaker that doesn’t have a microphone.

It would be much better if I could listen to presentations, large group meetings, etc. I hope Zoom people can understand the rationale for this request and fix the app so it can send audio output to an external bluetooth speaker. Hi InspectorGadget SaraKarolina LynTh Domw9rld as your cases may be unique, I would suggest contacting our Zoom technical support and they can further look into your issue.

Suggest after the creation of your ticket, to share the solution that’s provided. If you’re unable to open a ticket with our Zoom support team, I can also help with that process. Hi RN I think this is a real issue and not unique to the people above.

It behaves exactly as they describe for me too. As this screenshot, you can see Zoom does connect via Bluetooth, however, the audio still comes out from my Android phone, Pixel 3 XL, rather than my earphone. Definitely not unique. Exact same issue for me and also for my partner. We’ve been trying and searching for months.

There’s no way of having a different sound output device. I’m adding my voice to this as well. The only option is Wifi. I have contacted Zoom support who have advised me that no, there is no option to bluetooth when using the mobile app.

It just doesn’t exist. I have done so. It would be great if anyone else who is also affected by the lack of being able to Bluetooth to a speaker on their phone or tablet also left some feedback requesting that option. I imagine the more of us who ask for it the more likely it will be to be added in the next update.

Exact same issue as most here; I am able to switch audio source from phone speaker to the Bluetooth icon, but that just changes the audio from the louder speakerphone speaker over to the phone ear speaker like you would need to hold the phone to your ear like a normal phone call. While the icon shows the Bluetooth icon, toggle your phone’s Bluetooth off, wait a few seconds, then toggle back on.

I did this during an active call and when my phone automatically repaired with my Bluetooth headphones the Zoom audio started playing through the headphones correctly. By disconnecting and reconnecting BT, once it reconnects there is no app currently using the BT device so Zoom is able to utilize it correctly. So when you press the button it is showing BT but using phone ear speaker instead. So it’s only switching between phone loud speaker and phone ear speaker defect 1 and the phone ear speaker option is showing the Bluetooth option when it should be showing the phone ear speaker option defect 2.

The fix would be that all devices would be iterated correctly so 3 would be available phone ear speaker, phone loud speaker, and BT device , and each would correlate to the correct icon when selected so 3 icons instead of 2. Post Reply. Ah SaraKarolina I see you’re on mobile. Yeah, Zoom just uses the phone integrated microphone or connected Bluetooth device. If seeing this, you can tap the speaker icon to turn it to your connected Bluetooth device tested on iOS. So the icon with the speaker is in the meetingrom on the top to the left? Can I just click on it? It is probably not possible to test this before a meeting? SaraKarolina should be able to!

I would suggest testing in your personal meeting room before. If connected, you should hear a little chime when unmuting and muting yourself. Have tried the above suggested steps and I can’t still get audio on my Bluetooth speaker from zoom. I’m using an android mobile. Is your Bluetooth speaker reconfigurable by your device? If so, should be recognizable by Zoom as well. Are you able to see the little speaker icon.

I have the same issue and also use an ipad. As you can see from the screen shot there is no speaker icon. How do I connect to Bluetooth using the iPad zoom screen please? I’m having exactly the same problem. Around December it all broke.

I have the speaker button, the phone speakerphone works, but when I switch it to BT it just comes out the phone earpiece. I’m trying to use it with the same BT headphones. The headphones are connected and I can play music and make phone calls through them. My phone Samsung Note 20 ultra was updated recently and is running Android I just completely uninstalled Zoom, deleted all the data, and reinstalled it.
